These strange Steel-types, Minnimek, Mechambul, and Militarant, are actually based on real-world mecha, (or at least the first two are, Militarant’s based on Metal Gear RAY) and are the Forizze region’s psuedolegendary, which leaves it lacking a psuedolegendary Dragon but opens up slots for smaller Dragons in more interesting type combos.
The first of the three, Minnimek, is based on the BigDog military carrier mech, which is soon to be used by the U.S. military as a packmule. The things are really very nimble for mindless automatons.
The second is based on the Walking Truck, which was the first semisuccessful limbed mech; I say semisuccessful because it’s potentially very precise, but according to operators, it’s exhausting that one could only control it for 15 minutes. Watch it kick a Jeep out of the way.

The odd thing about the Ochigo region is its abundance of fossils, nearly a quarter of the dex is extinct, and many of them aren’t traditional Rock-types either; even legendary trio must be revived from fossils. (rather than being added to your party immediately, they escape and become one of those irritating roaming legendaries.) No other region has any fossils that aren’t rock, but there is at least one fossil that’s not truly a fossil.
So this here Elefin is revived from a Tusk Fossil, a Water-type with either Hydration or Ice Body, that becomes Water/Ice upon evolving to Granphant at level 40. Their Dream World ability, called Engenuity, allows them to utilize manmade healing items such as potions as held items.
For some reason, it seems a lot of my favorite designs are Water/Ice, blue and covered in fur.

A non-Water type water-dwelling pokemon, Aquamino and Saggitaurus are  Normal/Dragon and based on the Ophiotaurus, a half-bull/half-sea serpent from Greek mythology that was incapable of malice yet could grant one ultimate power; if one were to burn its entrails in a bonfire, they would gain power enough to overthrow the gods themselves.
Aquamino translates this concept via its trademark ability (the only ability it can have, even via dream world) which works as a sort of reverse Moxie. Though Aquamino’s line have abnormally high stats (not too abnormal) the pokemon that knocks it out gets its attack slightly raised.

Another inhabitant of the area around Ashchill, Kraketot, Volterrupt, and Everruptionare about Aggron-strength Fire/Electric types with both a trademark move and ability, and are based on the (totally badass looking) phenomena of volcanic lightning.
The trademark ability of course has to do with the ash sttorm weather condition, and is only available to Everruption. It’s the ash storm counterpart to things like Drizlle and Drought, and (working on the assumption that no one else’s fakemon count) this also makes Everruption the only pokemon with a weather-creating ability as one of two possible standard abilities.
In Volcanic Winter’s slot, Kraketot has Stench, and Volterrupt has White Smoke, so it (perhaps irritatingly, but it’s great flavor) changes abilities every time it evolves. The other standard ability is Static, and the DW ability is Solid Rock, both of which are constant throughout evolution.
Everruption’s trademark attack (available to the others as well via level up) is Dry Lightning, a power 100, accuracy 50 Electric attack that always burns, much like Zap Cannon or Dynamicpunch.
Aside from ash lightning, their designs are based very loosely off of lamps, of all things. Expect to see more residents of Ashchill throughout the week, they’re some of my proudest (or at least favorite) creations.

Freekoli and Haliphage here are based on bacteriophages, and appear in one of my favorite areas in Forizze, the shadow of a volcano that’s trapped in a volcanic winter, where you can find the broad variety of Fire, Ice, Dark, Poison, and Rock types. These two speciically are Ice/Poison, and gather a fluff of fallen ash to keep warm.
Again, all three of their abilities are created; Ash Coat increases I can’t remember which stat (evasion makes sense) in the Volcanic Winter weather condition, Frozen Armor grants immunity to Ice attacks and increases its defense every time it’s hit by one, and Brain Freeze, its Dream World ability, creates a 30% chance that opponents attacking it directly are confused.
Aside from the typical special Ice attacks and a small handful of Poison, (mostly the smokey ones) it also learns a bit of Fire (Ash Storm, the Volcanic Winter move, and a couple of the other ash ones) and Mirror Coat.

These delightful little freaks are Trombent, Didgeridoom and Orchestremor, and are not based on anything in particular but rather are meant to pay homage to Lewis Carroll. They’re the non-dragon psuedolegend of their region, and Dark/Sound type. (Might as well mention it now, I’ve got Sound, Light, Star, and Explosive types.)
These guys are some of my all time favorite designs, mainly for the fact of just how expressive they are. Sometimes a loose concept can lead to some great design.
Three of the four abilities (The DW ability changes on evolution) these can have are created; Rattled is the official one. Its other standard ability, Incoherent, gives it a 10% chance to confuse a foe. Trombent’s DW ability is Full Forward, preventing it from losing Speed, and upon evolution is replaced by Reverberate seeing as the two bigger forms are a little less mobile. Reverberate gives damaging Sound attacks a 30% chance to hit twice, though the second strike is only a quarter of the original power. I think that’s a good balance between awesome and not broken, right?
I don’t have ovesets or pokedex entries worked out, but know that they learn Thrash and make a lot of noise.

Felt like sharing some of my older fakemon concepts and designs, so there will be a picture and rant about an old design I like once a day for the next ten days.
These are Vampetit and Vamoiselle, based on the Penangallan of Malay folklore. Taking such a weird, gruesome myth and turning it into a pokemon was a lot easier than I thought, simply by stylizing the heart and leaving the intestine as essentially a hot dog I was able to tone it down enough. The bloody-tear-like facial markings may be a stretch, but they may not be.
These two are rather unconventional Ghost/Dark types, which depending on how they’re played could be quick-hitting pests or those infuriating self-healing ones.
Potential abilities are Night Active, (doubles Speed at night or in dark areas like caves) Cursed Body, Bloodsucker (via Dreamworld, drains 1/2 the damage caused by a biting attack). Infiltrator and Unnerve are other possibilities, though I don’t know how they’d fit in…
Vampetit evolves via Dusk Stone, and their egg groups are Fairy/Indeterminate.
Here’re some dex entries for Vampetit:

Chocolate: “This pokemon’s bizarre sparkling serpentine viscera trails behind it as it flies through the night. This is theorized to be a display of intimidation, warding off predators with its disturbing appearance.” Cream: “A pokemon attracted to eggs and nurseries, that will stick around in hopes of snatching any dead eggs or scraps of food. It has an odd tendency to become protective of its adopted nest, and may act as a surrogate mother when the parent is away.” Elsewhere: “It has a strangely developed maternal instinct. In some areas, it may be used as an aide at maternity wards in hospitals. It has a stong sour smell that contains peromones to calm young children and animals.”
